Two Vehicle Carriers Call Into Suva Port

One of the two international vehicle carriers scheduled at the Suva port is still out in the Suva Harbour.
Beluga Ace came in on Friday andleft on the weekend while Silverstone Express is yet to offload vehicles. According to the International Maritime Traffic both vessels had departed from Yokohama Port in Japan for Suva.
They are also both registered in Panama. Carpenters Shipping Limited is the local agent for Beluga Ace. An officer who refused to give his name said it was not company policy to reveal the number of vehicles offloaded at the Suva Port.
“We need permission from the principal or the owner of the cargo in Japan to release anything,” he said.
According to the Fiji Ports Corporation Limited Annual Report 2017, 18 vehicle carriers had arrived into the Suva Port in 2015, 26 in 2016 and 24 last year.
These two are the last to arrive into the country this year.
