Jiuwa Uses Holidays To Better Educate Himself

While many teenagers are enjoying their school holidays, Jiuwa Vuli earned himself a certificate from Tacirua Sustainable Livelihood Project training offered through the Fiji National University.
Yesterday, he was one of more than 600 people who graduated at Tacirua Primary School. The 17-year-old graduated with a Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery. He is a student at Nabua Secondary School.
The eldest of four siblings said: “I believe this certificate will help me in the future. I could also be enjoying with my friends for two weeks, but I choose to be part of the two weeks training and I am glad I did.
“This certificate means a lot to me and I hope that more trainings like these are offered so that a lot of youths can participate.”
Jiuwa said when it came to learning, age should never be a barrier.
“I was informed about the training by a friend and I am happy that we were part of it. I want to become a soldier in the future and I believe that this certificate will also be of help,” he said.
“I am happy that my family was supportive of me when I informed them that I wanted to be part of the training.”
