CCTV Cameras For Savusavu Town

The Duavata Crime Free Carnival Committee plans to install CCTV cameras in Savusavu Town.

Committee chairperson Joseph Wong said the idea behind it revolved on the safety of the public, especially at night.

He said the committee organised the town’s first carnival and the money collected from it would directly be used in the installation processes.

“The estimated cost of the installation is around $39,000 and we are hoping that the carnival is a success,” he said.

“The installation of CCTV cameras will ensure more security for the people, especially at night.

“The main seawall will be covered including parks as well.”

Now that Savusavu Town – known as the ‘Hidden Paradise’ – was an expanding sector, especially in the tourism market, Mr Wong said more tourists were visiting their little town and the people were pleased about it.

“We work very closely with the Police and we want to complete our project at the earliest,” he said.

“This project will benefit everyone, so we request business houses to come forward and assist us.

“It is also a good time to bring your family and friends to the carnival and enjoy the variety of decoration and performances for the general audience,” he said.

The carnival ends on tonight with the chief executive officer of Digicel, Mike Greig, expected to close the ceremony.

There will be a float procession for the Duavata Crime Free Savusavu Christmas Carnival on December 22, 2018.
