The initiative of reaching out to people in communities in the Northern Division communities will be a priority for the Rotary Club of Labasa.

During its annual thanksgiving night, club president Sharmila Devi said that a lot had been planned for the upcoming year.

“We are planning for next year and I also thank everyone for being supportive towards the club this year,” she said.

Ms Devi said many projects were undertaken this year.

Some of the projects included wheelchair distribution to needy people, visiting schools to create awareness campaigns relating to non-communicable diseases and assisting people faced with financial difficulties.

She said awareness campaigns held at schools were successful because their team had imparted knowledge to a wider audience.

“We have come together to appreciate everyone’s effort in the group,” Ms Devi said.

“It was a challenging year for all team members, however working collaboratively and maintaining consistent teamwork was elemental.”

The club has 15 members and was joined by Lions Club and Northern Charity Alliance members at Hotel Northpole in Labasa on Wednesday evening.
