Police Vow To Step Up Patrols

Police in the Northern Division will step up patrols undertaken to ensure a safe festive season for everyone.
This was confirmed by Northern Divisional Police Commander Senior Superintendent of Police Eparama Waqa.
SSP Waqa said people’s safety was at the forefront of the Police force’s objectives and, therefore, ensuring a safe and a positive festive season was imperative.
“We will proactively be monitoring roads because we also do not want any accidents to happen as the year ends,” he said.
He also urged people not to drink and drive.
“If you are drunk, please let somebody else drive. This is my strong message to all motor vehicle owners,” he said.
SSP Waqa said that theft cases also tended to peak during this time and urged people to ensure that their houses were fully secured.
“Also check to see if there is proper lightening at your homes,” he said.
SSP Waqa said that one of the common cases of burglaries included livestock theft in the North and urged people to have their livestock secured.
“If there is any information, please follow up with the police while it’s fresh so that we can assist people,” he said.
SSP Waqa said since schools were on a break until the new year parents were urged to supervise their children. He said that there had already been two drowning cases in the North lately and advised parents to always supervise young children, especially while out at picnics.
“Police will be around and if you need any help, please do call us,” he said.
SSP Waqa wished everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
