Family Unhurt As Taxi Crashes Into Garage

The tenants of a house along Rewa Street in Suva were rudely awoken when a taxi crashed into their garage yesterday morning.
One of the occupants of the house who chose to remain anonymous said he woke up from the sound of a loud bang.
“When we came out of the house, we saw people helping the driver out and another passenger from the crash site,” he said.
“The taxi was coming from Howell Road and instead of turning into Rewa Street, the vehicle hit the fence and crashed into our garage.
“It’s sad to witness a scene like that especially on the eve of Christmas. We just hope that everybody ensures road safety in this season.”
According to the tenant, he described the taxi driver to be around 55-60 years of age.
No one was injured.
Witnesses claim the driver was suspected to have suffered from a heart attack.
“Our owner is overseas and we have to liaise with him on how we will re-build the damaged garage and fence.”
As of yesterday afternoon, Police said investigations into the accident continued.
