Fijians working and studying in China have been told to reflect on their lives during 2018, before the New Year arrives.

This was the message from Fiji’s Ambassador to China, Manasa Tagicakibau, during the 2018 thanksgiving church service held at the Fijian Embassy in Beijing on Sunday.

Ambassador Tagicakibau said this year was about to end and each and every one of us needed to reflect on our strength and weaknesses. He also said to map our way, and write down resolutions for 2019 and stick to them.

“If we reflect back on our lives in 2018, we may have our short falls, shortcomings, we may be weak in some areas of our lives or work. Those are some areas that we need to work on and pickup from those challenges and move on. Don’t be taken aback, don’t be defeated by those downfalls, we need to always strive for the excellence and for the better,” he said.

“We have left our shores, and our loved ones back home for a purpose in China. We need to know our purpose, our mission and God’s purpose in our lives and work towards it.”

Mr Tagicakibau continued to emphasised to the students that in each event they commit to in China, their priority is studying.

Even though the embassy often engages them in other activities, they were reminded that their main priority there was to complete their studies with success.

He also acknowledged the Fiji Sun journalist based in Beijing for the great work done throughout the year in promoting Fiji and China.

“Thanks for advocating and promoting the two countries. It’s always important that Fiji knows what is really going on here in China and the Fijian Embassy,” he said.

“I thank each and every one of you for your perseverance throughout the year, for the hard work, compassion, for the focus that you continue to focus on in terms of the tasking and the work that you do and you continue to do while here in China.”

He thanked the staff and their families for working so hard throughout the year in supporting the Embassy.

Meanwhile there was also a moment of silence during church service to remember the late Speaker of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni.

Mr Tagicakibau and all the Fijians in China are wishing everyone in Fiji a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
