The newly commissioned RFNS Kacau has exclusive features which will boost the operations of the Fijian Navy.

Chinese People’s Liberation Army-Navy team leader said the newly commissioned Royal Fiji Naval Ship (RFNS) Kacau carries many special features that will benefit the operations of the Fijian Navy.

He said this would help the Fiji Navy know more about the ocean and also strengthening the security of the country’s Exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

“RFNS Kacau is a monitoring vessel which monitors features of the seas and the ocean,” he said.

“It can monitor short range sea area and measure how deep the sea is.

The main purpose of the vessel is to detect any obstacles in the sea.

“The vessel can gauge geological area around the sea and sea layer.”

He said the vessel caters its own unique technology equipments.

“The officers have already gone for one month training and there are three more months left.

“The training is in three different categories.

“The first phase of training is theoretical training which is based on the books.

“Second part is actual operating of the ship.

“Last one is teaching them on how to operate the vessel and the use of equipments.

“We want them to get familiar with the ship.

“The Fijian Navy officers are getting familiar with the equipments which are within the vessel.

“They are quick learners and they have a good behavior and high quality.

“We were impressed by the FijianNavy.”

There are thirty-five Fijian Navy officers that are currently being trained by the Chinese delegation.

The ship can cater for twenty nine crews .

“The vessel can monitor very rough sea conditions,” he said.

There are 18 Chinese officials who are conducting the training.
