So far 30 clubs have registered to compete in the inaugural Tabadamu 7s tournament at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori on January 11-12.

There will also be an under 20 men’s competition hosted alongside the main 7s competition.

Speaking to SUN sports yesterday, tournament director Malakai Yamaivava said they were focused on exposing young talents to the game of rugby sevens.

“So far 30 teams have registered. For the opens man’s competition, 30 have registered but we will only accommodate the first 24 teams that pay their registration in full,” Yamaivava said

“And for the under 20 competition, only 12 sides have registered so far and we will only accommodate the first 16 teams.

“Our main aim for hosting this tourney is to expose and develop our young grassroots players.

“We also generate finances to support the club during the 2019 Rugby Season”

Yamaivava added that some popular local clubs have registered and are vying for the prizemoney.

“Renown teams such as Police, Uluinakau Babas, Seniboro, JB Brothers Sorokoba, Tabadamu, Maui Bay Baravi Sharks, Waimanu, Nakelo, Coastal Brothers and Lami Cavaliers will be competing for the prizemoney available,” Yamaivava said

Meanwhile, Tabadamu 7s Tournament organising committee would like to acknowledge their sponsors for their financial support.
