Brothers Private Josaia Lewanimalawai and Private Viliame Mociu gave thanks to God for bringing them home safely to their family after completing a tour of duty in Lebanon.

It was their first tour on peacekeeping duties with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

The brothers were among the 136 soldiers who spent 14 months in the Middle East.

They returned home safely yesterday eager to meet family, friends and loved ones.

Private Mociu said it was a blessing to be back in Fiji.

While serving in Lebanon, he was stationed in a different area from his brother and only got to see him after six months.

“When my brother and I left for Lebanon, we were given different postings,” he said.

He acknowledged God for keeping them safe throughout their stint in Lebanon.

Private Lewanimalawai said he gave all praises to God for bringing him back home safely.

“Now I cannot wait to celebrate a special Christmas function with my family,” he said.

Their mother, an emotional Maria Tabaroro, said she understood the work her sons were involved in and coping with having the boys away from home was sometimes tough.

“They worked in a distant country, but I thank God for keeping

them safe throughout the day and throughout the night,” she said.

“This is the first time they have gone on official duty and I am just so happy that, they are back alive.”

The brothers father, Saula Kuroqase, a retired RFMF personnel said it was a proud moment seeing both his sons go on a mission and come back home safely.

“I thank the RFMF for providing them with these opportunities,” he said.
