Villagers around Savusavu were filled with joy after they were paid a visit by the Slayers Charity Club.

The club brought items such as groceries for villagers as well as toys and accessories for the children when they visited Naiqaqi Village, Navianavia Village, Nakobo Village, Vunicoqoloa Village, Nabua Village, Koronatoga Village and Vunisavisavi Village yesterday.

The club’s founding member, Avishal Sharma said that the group was happy to have brought smiles to all the villagers.

“This is the first time we are helping entire villages as previously we used to help individual families only,” he said.

He also said that it was through assistance of Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort that the group decided on a big visit this year.

“People were so happy to see us especially the kids,” he said.

Esala Navidi, 26, of Naviavia Village said he was very happy to have received assistance from the club.

“This is the first time whereby they are helping entire villages and we are really grateful for that,” Mr Navidi said.

“This means a lot to families in the interiors of Savusavu especially this festive season,” he said.

About the club

The Slayers Club was formed in February this year with the aim of reaching out and helping the needy people and bringing smiles to people of the community.

“The very basics of forming this club is on giving back to the society and we are happy to be doing that this festive season,” Mr Sharma said.

He said that 2018 had been filled with challenges for the club however, with all the odds apart, the team had been successful with its fundraising activities in order to reach out to communities.

The club will also be organising a car show on Saturday December 29 at Subrail Park in order to raise funds for more of their charity projects.

“We have a lot planned for next year,” said Mr Sharma.
