Editorial: How Will Our Businesses Greet The New Year?

Well, we are three days away from the end of the year and most of us have begun reflecting on this year.
Every New Year brings its own excitement along with its anticipation of what to expect and how to combat it.
Some may be looking back at what they have accomplished and what they wished they had accomplished.
Some are already looking forward at what they hope to accomplish in the year to come.
Some are looking forward to spending more time working on their business than working in their business, which could be a New Year’s resolution.
In terms of next year, which is next Tuesday, the business community is looking forward to better things and reaping the fruits of their labour.
Some are looking forward to watching their company continue to grow in every area possible.
Some may even have expansion plans in the pipelines already and are eager to kick start it on January 1.
Some are looking to form partnerships to further their business and learn as a team to reach their goals and ensure the customers’ needs are met.
Even modifying their strategic plans to meet their targets.
One such example is from the commercial banks will be removing their EFTPOS purchase transaction fee.
This is also one way in which the Association of Banks in Fiji are committed to provide services that are accessible, inexpensive and convenient.
This is in line with Government’s initiative announced in the 2018-2019 National Budget, where all the commercial banks will be offering unlimited free EFTPOS purchase transactions for local Debit Card holders (commonly known as ATM access cards).
This is just one example, which everyone is looking forward to.
