The Lions Club of Labasa once again brought smiles to the faces of patients at the Labasa Hospital after paying them a visit.

Club member, Mohammed Rizwaan said that their Christmas project was an annual event.

“Every year we visit patients of Labasa Hospital and share the Christmas spirit with them,” he said.

“One of our members became Santa Claus and we went around distributing Christmas cakes, packets of milk and fruits to all of the patients who couldn’t be with their families to celebrate Christmas,” Mr Rizwaan said.

He said that the club also surprised mothers of newborns on Christmas day with gift packs as well.

“There were two babies born and we also gave them baby strollers (donated by a club member),” he said.

“We also gave toys to all the children admitted there and we gave a Christmas hamper to the mothers,” he said.

“We also distributed cake, fruits, biscuits and juice to all the staff of the hospital, remembering the sacrifice they make to leave their families behind on Christmas Day and work so that the normal function of the hospital was not hindered and patients get the service they deserve,” he said.

The team then made its way to the dialysis center and then to the Golden Age Home Labasa.

“The cost of the project was around $1000 and it was only possible with the donations of our supporters and club members,” he said.

“We, the Lions Club of Labasa would like to thanks those sponsors who have contributed to this worthy project. And also we would like to thank all the members for their support and contribution to make this project a success,” he said.
