Saturday’s Accident Claims 4th Victim

The fourth victim in the Ba accident which occurred last Saturday died at the Lautoka Hospital on Christmas Day.

47-year-old Roshni Sharma, a real estate agent at Kermode Road in Lautoka, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Lautoka Hospital where she later passed away.

The accident occurred along the Kings Road at Navau in Ba on December 21.

The private vehicle, driven by the first victim, 23-year-old Divnesh Sharma, who allegedly failed to stop to make a right turn in front of a bus, resulting in the accident.

Two other victims, sisters Basmati, 93, and Lalita Devi Sharma, 76, had died at the scene as a result of the impact.

The post mortem for the fourth victim is expected to be conducted soon.

The number of road accidents this year stands at 53, compared to 63 at the same time last year.

The number of fatalities as a result of road accidents stands at 69 this year, which is the same number at this time last year.

Divnesh, Basmati, Lalita funerals

The funerals of Lalita Devi Sharma, her grandson Divnesh Sharma and Basmati were held yesterday.

Roshni Sharma was Divnesh’s mother.

Four victims were on their way to Ba to visit family members for the festive season when the incident occurred.
