Parliament Administrator Iliesa Raduduva while presenting their ‘vakasobu’ thanked the people of Ono-i-Lau for raising a woman who brought positive changes to the country.

The Parliament staff were in charge of taking the casket containing the body of the late Madam Speaker Dr Jiko Luveni to her home where she spent the night before she is buried today.

“Our journey here was not an easy one because today we came in silent and in grief. Thank you for giving us a wonderful woman who had led Parliament since 2014,” Mr Raduduva said.

“Madam speaker gave her last days serving the people in Parliament. She would always be remembered. She gave her life, her time and her dedication while in Parliament.

Mr Raduduva said the late Dr Luveni would always be remembered as the first woman speaker of the Fiji Parliament.

“We are thankful to have worked with Dr Luveni who we will never forget,” he said.

“We the parliament family are thankful to have been given a chance to work with a wonderful woman who believed in a better Fiji.”
