Sun Princess, Last Vessel To Call Into Fiji In 2018

Bermuda registered tourist vessel Sun Princess was the last tourist vessel into the Fiji waters on New Year’s Eve (Monday) for last year.
The vessel on a 13 night tour which includes Fiji as one of the destinations it would be calling on during this trip.
The vessel was anchored at the Lautoka wharf on Monday before leaving for Mare in New Caledonia yesterday.
Australian couple Carol and Barry Oxley was part of the 2159 passengers and 849 crew members on board the vessel.
The city of Lautoka was a hive of activity as the tourists walked the streets, went sightseeing; enjoying the western sun.
First comers Mr and Mrs Oxley said the friendliness of the Lautoka citizens was something they would be coming back for.
“It is so safe and people are always willing to assist,” Mr Oxley said.
Mrs Oxley added Fiji was a beautiful country with friendly people.
“We love it, it’s very nice, the people are lovely and very friendly and we feel very safe which is important because we like to walk so we feel the real Fiji hospitality,” she said.
“We came on the ship for a holiday, this is a beautiful island.”
The couple plan to return to Fiji in future to tour Lautoka again.
The vessel operated by Princess Cruises had made its maiden voyage in December 1995.
Beginning with a single cruise to Mexico in 1965, Princess Cruises have since become one of the world’s premier cruise lines.
