Cakaudrove Province: No Threats Reported

The Provincial Administrator of Cakaudrove Kalivati Rabuka has confirmed that Cakaudrove Province has not received reports of threats so far from Tropical Cyclone Mona.

He said the emergency operation centre based in Savusavu has been constantly monitoring the weather situation.

“All evacuation centres including schools are open and people living in low lying areas can seek shelter,” Mr Rabuka said.

“As of now there is no evacuee as weather continues to be gloomy.”

Taveuni District Officer (DO) Filimoni Tagicakibau when contacted yesterday confirmed that there was no heavy rainfall or strong wind felt on Taveuni Island.

“Assessment teams from emergency operation centre have been sent out to gather information from the ground and then we will determine what next step to take,” Mr Tagicakibau said.

“As of now there is no report of flooding or people occupying evacuation centres on the island.”
