Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa has cleared the air that all mothers whose household income is below $30,000 get the $1000 grant.

all mothers whose household income is be- low $30,000 get the $1000 grant.

$500 is given when the child is born and $500 can be accessed when the child starts Year 1. This clarification was made ather queries posted on social media that the grant only applied to mothers in rural areas.

“All mothers with a household income of less than $30,000 are eligible,” Ms Vuniwaqa added.

This grant intended to assist families by easing the financial burden of parenthood and meeting the needs of their newborn.

This was catered under the $335 million budget for Ministry of Health and Medical Services in the 2018-2019 National Budget.
