Olympian and 2013/14 World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year Samisoni Viriviri is making a comeback.

The speedy winger was training with Dratabu 7s team as they prepare to make their debut at the 2019 McDonald’s Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka next weekend.

This will be the second time for Viriviri to play in the tournament. He had earlier played for Police who are the two-time champions.

The Dratabu native said to go out and win is not going to be easy.

“We started our preparations last week,” he said.

“We’ve a mixture of experience and new players as well. We’ve got veteran players like Sevuloni Lutu, Peni Maka, Semesa Muaudonu, Veniona Vuki, Mesake Varo, and Ifereimi Koroi.

“Training every day has made things better and we’ve an objective to field a good team for the Coral Coast 7s.

“This is the lone Nadi team in the tournament and at the same time we want to develop more players.

“We had two players from the village that made it to the team that won the gold medal at the Rio Olympics so we can produce more good players.”

The other player is playmaker Kitione Taliga who has joined Police.

Dratabu are in Pool A along with defending champions Police, First Light Taveuni, and BLK.
