Growing up Hinesh Patel was always expected to take over the family business, but the 26-year-old had his own ambition.

Now, he is looking forward to his posting to the Nausori Health Centre.

He was among the 83 new doctors who were inducted yesterday at Novotel Suva Lami Bay Convention Centre.

He is the second eldest among the three siblings.

Dr Patel attended Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School and had always wanted to become a doctor.

He did his internship at the Labasa Hospital where he challenged himself to do better every day.

“My internship was one year and Labasa was challenging because the environment was new to me,” he said.

“I think I can work in any part of Fiji including remote areas because I was able to work away from home for the past one year.”

Dr Patel said that being a doctor could be tiring at times, but our duty is to serve.

“We have reached Mount Korobaba and now are going to Mount Everest, which means another level of challenges.”

Dr Patel is originally from Nausori.
