Matereti Canavanua, 30, aims to win his first heavyweight fight next month.

The Nadakuni, Naitasiri native will fight Samisoni Hanimo over four rounds in the South Pacific Boxing Promotions programme at Prince Charles Park, Nadi on February 9.

“Preparations are on track and I’m looking forward to a good fight,” Canavanua said.

“I’m fully aware my Lautoka-based opponent is new to the sport but that doesn’t mean I will take him lightly.

“I’ve been involved with boxing for the past 11 years and I’m grateful to my sponsor Sunbix Solutions, the Newton Boxing Club and my coach Jone Loloma for their support in assisting me taking the next step in the sport.”
