Town’s Recreation Park Development Work Continues

Council hopes to complete project in three months, if weather permits.
The Sigatoka Town Council remains determined to complete the Sigatoka Recreation Park project in good time.
Amid the bad weather affecting the town, the council’s chief executive officer, Tulsi Ram, said they intend to see the project completed without hindrance in three months’ time.
“The people are looking forward to the completion of the park as a picnic recreational area for families and tourists,” Mr Ram said.
“This is a Government project and we would like to see that it is done quickly.
The only thing that puts the workers on hold is the weather. When it rains heavily they will not work.
There are big machineries at the site but they cannot be used on wet soil.
“If the weather permits, we will finish it in three months time. But otherwise it won’t hinder the completion of the project.”
Close to a million dollars is being invested to start the project.
The project works started on April 27, 2018. It will be a place where the public can enjoy their leisure time – something similar to the My Suva Picnic Park. There will be cooking places and small shelters for families to enjoy their lunch or evening dinners.
In addition, people can enjoy the river view at their leisure, while for those with children, there is a specially allocated amusement area for them, to play and enjoy themselves with abandon.
