Pullman Nadi Bay Resort General Manager Kahl Warwick was not surprised that a lot of senior staff from other major hotels and resorts around Fiji had turned up during the Open Day this week.

The resort conducted the face-to-face interviews for over 2500 job applicants over the two-day Open Day.

The Pullman Nadi Bay property has been developed by the Gokal group and will be managed by the global Accor chain under its upscale Pullman brand.

“I am actually not surprised that a lot of good industry workers associated with other hotels and resorts came through the gates,” Mr Warwick said.

“A lot of school leavers and those who had finished university studies have come through also.

“We have noticed from the workers from other hotels and resorts the level of skills and experience and this is great.

“I am not surprised and happy they are looking at us as an alternative and with the Accor brand we will continue to upskill the talents they presently have.

“Training, reinforcement and continually upskilling your team I feel are the major areas you need to continually look at to be at the top in this industry.”

Mr Warwick said this should start from day one and once you see that the workers are achieving that then you need to recognise them for their efforts.

“I definitely think I have the right people that have come in through the gates for the interview and now are a matter of sorting through the applications to find the best.”

He was impressed with the attitude of applicants who had come well dressed for the interview.

Dress Code

“We had to turn away a few of them yesterday for coming in round neck T shirts and flip flop as we wanted to be impressed from the start.”

He yesterday noticed that two of those who were sent away on Thursday came back well dressed.

Next week around 550 applicants would be called back for the second interview before the final team is selected for about 300 positions that are available.
