Hard-hitting boxer Ronald Naidu is ready for his fight against Rakuro Daunivavana where the Fiji welterweight title is at stake on February 9 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

The 28-year-old Naidu who fights out of the Mulomulo Boxing Club in Nadi said he is confident of a knockout win.

“My opponent is a good boxer,” he told SUNsports on Monday.

“I’ve fought Rakuro twice and I know his style. Now I’ve a different game plan. First fight was a draw and I won the second one by points.”

Naidu said Daunivavana was heavier in their early fights but this time he’s coming down to the 66- kilogramme weight division.

“This is a title fight and Nadi is my home town so I won’t let my people down. This time I will go for a knockout and I’m confident that I will win, he said.

“I want to thank the promoter, Freddy Chand for making this title fight happen.

“I encourage all Nadi fans to come out in numbers and support me.”

Promoter, Freddy Chand said Naidu is looking fit and confident of a positive outcome.

“Also, I’ve information that Rakuro is camping in Lautoka. Both of them will be fighting for the third time and this will be a title fight and the weight will be even.

“We ask the public to come out in big numbers and support this fight. We at Seaside Boxing Promotions with our director Mohammed Shameem, are putting all our efforts into this programme.”

Chand thanked the Boxing Commission of Fiji for introducing national titles.

He said the public can expect cheap ticket prices. The tickets will be $15 on pavilion side, $25 and $40 on the ring side.

Chand also said that tickets would be on sale as early as next week but the boxing posters will be out this week.
