$50K Boost For Lautoka, Ba

Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) major sponsor Vodafone handed $50,000 to the Lautoka and Ba teams yesterday.

This is to assist in their preparation for the   2019 OFC Champions League which starts next month.

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel promised the teams would get more if they progress to the quarterfinals.

“It’s a great we assist the two teams that will be representing Fiji at the OFC Champions League,” Patel said.

“As you qualify for the second round, which is the knockout stages, there will be more bonuses for the teams.

“This is the initial money for the group stages, and as you progress, we will top up your sponsorship.”

Patel wished both Lautoka and Ba all the best.

Vodafone Fiji head of enterprise development Antonio Kitione congratulated Lautoka and Ba for qualifying for the OFC Champions League.

“I wish you all the best as you will go on to fly the Fiji flag at the Oceania level.

“The support of the entire nation, the family of Vodafone and Fiji FA is behind you,” Kitione said.

Lautoka FA president Abdul Kadar and Ba FA president Rishi Kumar thanked both Vodafone and Fiji FA for the support and providing the added boost.

The Blues are in Group B with Central Sport (Tahiti), Henderson Eels (Solomon Islands) and Morebe Wawens (PNG). Competition starts on February 10.

Ba are in Group C with Erakor Golden Star,Team Wellington and qualifier runner-up. Competition starts on February 24.
