11 Years Later, Nisha Tastes Success

It was the dream of Saszmin Doreen Nisha to be an independent woman and a role model to her two children.
The 28-year-old was among 30 students who successfully graduated from the Pivot Point Training and Education Institute Fiji at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi on Saturday night. She was also presented with an award for being creative.
The mother of two, who graduated with a double Diploma in Cosmetology, said she did not want to depend on her husband to be the only one working.
“I would like to open my own business and be independent because at the moment I am dependent on my husband, but now I can live independently,” she said.
“It was really challenging looking for clients, as a mother I had to work at home, in my office and in school as well. It was hard but my family were with me.”
Ms Nisha’s husband, Shelvin Sandip Chand, owns the Subash Trucking and Digging (Vaniya) business in Suva which has been in operation for 14 years.
Mr Chand said he knew her dream to study cosmetology would one day come true.
“It was 11 years ago when I met her. I saw her dresser in her room, with all types of things and I asked her what is all these and she said this is what I want to be in the future,” he said.
“It was empowering to see her courage and the sacrifice she put into attaining her goal.”
