Why We Won

Players sacrificed their Christmas holidays to keep up with their training
Sacrifice, perseverance and hard work were the ingredients behind the success of the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team when they walloped USA 38-0 in the Cup final of the New Zealand 7s in Hamilton last night.
Fiji Rugby Union John O’Connor told SUNsports that the players sacrificed their Christmas holidays to keep up with their training.
“It has paid off tonight,” O’Connor said from Hamilton.
“I’m thankful to the players for the sacrifice they have made and the display they had put on has made every Fijian proud.”
After the Cup final, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama tweeted: “No better way to spend a family Sunday than by celebrating our 2019 Hamilton Champions. Vinaka boys– you brought great pride to every Fijian tonight.”
O’Connor said he’s grateful to all Fijian fans for their support in terms of prayers for the team.
“Also, for all Fijian supporters in New Zealand who were in Hamilton to cheer on the team for the past two days.”
