Improvement in discipline has been another highlight of the Fiji Airways Fijian men’s 7s team during the New Zealand 7s last weekend.

This was highlighted by head coach Gareth Baber during an interview with LWOS Rugby.

“We had a yellow card for a kick-off incident involving one of my forwards who was making a return after being away for many months due to injury,” he said.

This was forward Josua Vakurinabili who had tackled an Argentinean players while still in the air.

“Those things often happen in rugby and we got penalised for it.”

That was the only yellow card dished against the Fijians during the two-day competition.

SAME 12 FOR SYDNEY?

Meanwhile, Baber is expected to keep the same 12 players for the Sydney 7s.

Prop Paula Dranisinukula is expected to take his place ahead of Apenisa Cakaubalavu. The Suva soldier along with Vakurinibaili and lanky Mesulame Kunavula came in as a subs during the New Zealand 7s.

On Saturday the Fijians kickoff their pool opener against Japan at 12.34pm, then the clash against England at 6.02pm. The final pool match against Samoa will be at 10.07pm.
