Moala Part Of Plant A Million Trees Campaign

People from eight villages in Moala, Lau, gathered in large numbers to witness the tree planting programme at Naroi Village on Monday.
The villages are Cakova, Nasoki, Vadra, Naroi, Vunuku, Keteira, Maloku and Nuku.
This is in line with the tree planting initiative that was launched by the President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote earlier this month at the State House. The national bid is to plant four million trees in four years.
Minister for Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau said he was happy to launch the initiative in Moala.

“It is an honour to be in Moala to plant trees,” Mr Koroilavesau said.
“This is to protect our resources which will benefit our future generation. We need to work together for the common purpose.”
Nasoki villager, Bese Batisiga, said he was happy to be part of the ceremony.
“I did not know that tree planting would also be part of today’s celebration and I am really happy. I realise that if we protect our resources now our future generation will benefit. It is time for us to stop being selfish and plant trees instead of cutting them down.”
