Coach Sami Warns Players

Labasa football coach Anand Sami has warned his players to pull up their socks or face the axe.
The former national midfield wizard told SUNsports that he was upset with the players’ performance during their clash against Ba in the Vodafone Premier League where they were held to a 1-1 draw.
Playing in front of their fans, Labasa missed numerous goal scoring chances which included a penalty.
“The players must understand that they are in this league to compete,” Sami said.
“Reviewing the last game’s result I found that players opted to play individually and lost a lot of scoring opportunities.
“I can’t blame new players alone or the existing players because there is supposed to be a one team effect. Everyone needs to contribute.”
He said fitness was not a problem for them.
“We should have won the match as we had the home advantage and yet players missed those easy scoring chances.
“We have a match this weekend and unfortunately we’re battling against the wet weather and it has affected our preparations.
Team manager Nilesh Lal said through the Window Transfer which closes today they have five new players including two Solomon Islanders.
“We have a very good team and unfortunately due to bad weather condition it is very difficult to conduct training sessions. At the moment we’ve 25 players.”
