The Suva women’s football side have been working on their fitness as they prepare to face Ba in the 2019 Women Interdistrict Championship semi-final at Fiji FA Academy grounds, Suva this Saturday.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Suva manager George Brown said they’re overwhelmed with the girl’s performance last weekend.

“We will be working on their defence and fitness level this week,” he said.

“Preparations are going well and according to plan. We’ll be looking at improving the girl’s endurance and fitness to enable them to last the 90 minutes and at the same time improve on our defence and goal scoring department as well.

“Hats off to the Ba officials for nurturing their young girls as they have really put up a great performance last weekend.

“These girls are trained and developed from a very young age which has made them a complete team.

“They have everything a team wants in order to win games. They are very calm under pressure and score goals at ease. They’ve scored a total of 38goals in three games with no goals being scored against them.

“Ba team will also come out firing as they want to defend the IDC title. But for Suva the women will try to do their best and to perform above expectations as they’re also after the IDC crown.”

CHAMPS BA ON TRACK

Ba look good to reign once again in the Vodafone Women’s IDC.

The defending champions have scored a total of 32 goals in their three pool matches.

They started off with a bang thrashing Navua 13-0 before punishing Nadi with the same score line on the second day of the competition.

While Ba and Tailevu/Naitasiri had already qualified for semi-finals after day two’s competition, their clash was to determine the pool winner.

And Ba ended pool match in style with a convincing 9-0 win.

Meanwhile, Ba battle Suva in the first semifinal at 11am on Saturday.

In the other semi-final, Labasa will face Tailevu/ Naitasiri at 1.30pm at Fiji FA Academy grounds in Suva.
