Nabukavou Denies Robbery Charges

A man of Suva pleaded not guilty to three counts of aggravated robbery at the Suva High Court yesterday.

Saimoni Nabukavou is charged with three individual counts of aggravated robbery.

For the first count, it is alleged that on August 24, 2018, in Nasinu, Nabukavou robbed Suren Kumar of his mobile phone and a bag.

For the second count, it is alleged that on August 24, 2018, in Nasinu, Nabukavou robbed Satish Kumar of his silver laptop, assorted items and a bottle of whiskey.

For the third count, it is alleged that on August 24, 2018, in Nasinu, Nabukavou robbed Amrita Darshani of $2050 cash, a Toyota Prado vehicle and assorted jewellery and items.

State prosecutor Sujata Lodhia informed the court that the nature of the offence was a home invasion.

She also informed the court that one witness had recognised the accused as the accused had sold the stolen mobile phone to him.

Ms Lodhia said she was relying on the caution interview as part of the evidence in the trial proper.

Bail was extended and adjourned for pre-trial conference to March 1.
