Prefects Reminded Of Duty That Comes With Leadership

Leadership comes with responsibilities was the key message delivered during the Votualevu College annual prefect’s induction yesterday.
Abdul Mosheen was badged as the head boy and Zohayda Nigar as head girl.
The head prefects said they were honoured to be given the opportunity to lead and were looking forward to guide and empower other students for the 2019 academic year.
“It is an honour for me to be chosen as the head of the school,” Zohaydar said.
“My aim for this year is to empower other students to be leaders. I believe I should lead by example and lead students in whatever duties that have been entrusted for us to do.
“This is not the first time for me to be chosen in a leadership role. When I was in Year 11, I was chosen to be an assistant head girl and in Year 12, I was again chosen to be a deputy head girl.
“My greatest inspiration is my dad. He is influential because he attended a lot of leadership workshops and he inspires me with leadership’s attributes,” she said.
Head boy Adbul said it felt great to be given this leadership opportunity.
“I know this is just a first step to a greater future that lays ahead of me,” he said.
“This is a second opportunity for me to be appointed as school head. Last year I was appointed as assistant head boy and this year I was appointed again as the head boy of the school.
“My parents are my greatest inspiration and they taught me the responsibilities that I need to fulfil daily and the qualities that goes with it.
“My aim this year is to guide the students to things that will benefit them as well as the school,” he said.
The chief guest at the prefect Induction ceremony was the Divisional Education Officer Western, Joseva Gavidi.
He reminded students that leadership cames with responsibilities.
A total of 74 form prefects, school prefects, library monitors and school heads were inducted at Votualevu College.
