A Leader Understands, Guides In Right Direction, Says Head Girl

Newly-appointed Dudley High School head girl, Losavati Marama Baleisuva, says she hopes to be remembered as a charismatic leader.
The school announced its student leaders for 2019 during the prefects Induction ceremony at the Centenary Church in Suva on Friday.
“A good leader needs to have the ability to understand the people they are leading and those are the kinds of qualities that we should nurture,” she said.
“If you understand students then only you can guide them in the right direction should they ever stray from the path.
“I am anxious of what all this role entails but I am equally excited and ready to face any challenge head-on.”
She is originally from Waqavakatoga, 0no-i-Lau, and currently lives with her parents and four sisters in Lami.
Losavati has a keen interest in finance and aspires to be a bank officer in the future.
Saiyasi Nabou is looking to bring about positive changes as he takes on his new role as head boy.
Originally from Nagani, Batiki Island, Saiyasi currently resides with his family in Wailoku, Suva.
“I am excited about the role and honoured that I have been given this huge opportunity to lead our students this year,” he said.
“It is a big responsibility but I am happy to have done my parents proud.”
Saiyasi said his motivation in life was to help his family and he aspires to pursue aircraft engineering next year so that he can eventually secure a better future for his family.
“I think the biggest factor in success or leadership is self- discipline,” he said.
“If you have self-discipline you can conquer anything and this way you have a positive influence on others.
“As Head Boy I hope to lead by example and inspire students to be the best that they can be.”
