Discipline, hard work and maturity has moulded the young highlander who possess the qualities of a good leader.

Ratu Lewavada Nasigadrodro, who was named head boy of Ratu Kadavulevu School yesterday, expects similar standards from RKS students this year.

He will lead more than a thousand students from around Fiji in this prominent Tailevu boarding school.

Ratu Lewavada and 50 new prefects were inducted at the Lodoni-based school.

The soft spoken 19-year-old Naqalimare lad said he had a vision from the first day he entered RKS that one day he would become the head prefect of the school.

“I’ve been studying here at RKS for five years now, when I started in Year Nine my aim was to become a leader of this school,” he said.

“I’ve achieved that aim and dream today and I am proud to lead a school that has more than 1000 students.

“I want to thank the Lord and the teachers for having the faith in my ability and for believing in me.”

Ratu Lewavada  said his parents were surprised to hear the news that he was chosen to lead RKS.

“When I told my parents the news they were really proud of me and at the same time wary of the huge responsibilities I will have to shoulder,” he said.

The Navosa native has called on his fellow students and parents to rally their support to the newly appointed leaders of the school.

“I request the PTFA,the students and the RKS  family to support me and the prefects in upholding the discipline, reputation and the pillars of the school,” he said.

“It’s not an easy job, but I trust in God and that He will help us.”

The Year 13 Arts Student aims to pursue a career as an accountant upon leaving school.
