Mere Hopes To Improve Discipline

Being chosen as a student head comes as a surprise for 17-year- old Kesaia Mere.
The Year 13 Ballantine Memorial School student is no stranger to the school leadership circle as she has held prefect positions in Primary school.
She was a prefect and head girl at Nadroga Sangam Primary School, class captain in Year 10, school prefect in Year 11, assistant house captain in Year 12 and head girl this year.
Speaking about the responsibility bestowed upon her to lead an all female school with a school roll of 400 students, Mere said only God will help her through.
“I was surprised when they told me that I was chosen to be the head girl. I was expecting the leadership position to go to another student not me, but I guess God had other plans,” Ms Mere said.
She acknowledged her father who is a preacher and her mother who works in a hotel for always believing in her and nurturing her as the only daughter of five children.
The Science student said prayer is the driving force behind her success.
“I look forward to the challenge ahead of me and I aim to improve discipline in school.”
Mere hails from Navuevu Village in Cuvu, Nadroga.
She is studying Home Economics, Biology and Chemistry.
