I feel nervous and exited at the same. I am ready to fulfil my duties. I never thought I would become the head girl of the school. I dedicate my success to God and my parents.

Selina Kubunavanua says she is ready to handle the responsibilities as the newly-appointed head girl of Stella Maris Primary School.

The 13-year-old was inducted alongside head boy, Silio Bale and prefects at the school on Friday.

Despite living in Nausori, the eldest of two siblings has always made it on time to school, and says that is one of the important qualities of being a leader.

“I feel nervous and exited at the same time. I am ready to fulfil my duties,” she said.

“I never thought I would become the head girl of the school. I dedicate my success to God and my parents,” she said.

Selina aspires to become a pilot.

Meanwhile, Silio Bale said: “I am very nervous but it will not come in my way to lead the school.”

“I never thought I’d lead the school but I am honoured.”

“I want to attend Marist Brothers High School next year and I want to pursue my studies at the Fiji National University.”

The 14-year-old has a passion for rugby but wants to become an IT professor.
