The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team finished fourth at the 2019 Sydney 7s last night.

They now lie third in the World Sevens Series after four of the 10 tournaments, just four points behind leaders New Zealand and USA.

The team lost to England 17-19 in the 3rd place play-off despite Apenisa Cakaubalavu scoring three tries in the second half.

Naweni, Cakaudrove native Alosio Naduva received the UL Mark Of Excellence award for his spectacular try in the pool game against Japan.

Naduva said despite the 4th place finish, they need to bounce back in Las Vegas-Vancouver leg of the World Sevens Series next month.

“ We need to keep working hard,”he said.

Naduva is also the series leading tryscorer with 20 tries followed by Carlin Isles (18) and Dan Norton (17).

“I want to thank the Lord for giving me and the team strength and power to reach this far,” Naduva said.

BLACKS DAY

All Blacks 7s team won the tournament after beating USA 21-5 in the Cup final and the Black Ferns thrashing Australia 34-10 to make and all-New Zealand day in Sydney.
