Athletics Fiji will be hosting the first Grand Prix round one and trial 2 for the 2019 Pacific Games at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, on Friday and Saturday.

Athletics Fiji president Joe Rodan Snr told SUNsports yesterday that the Grand Prix would create a good opportunity for athletes to know their worth and prepare themselves for the Pacific Games.

“We’re hosting the first session of the grand prix this weekend and have urged athletes to participate as it is also the second trial for the Pacific Games,” Rodan Snr said

“And the exciting part of these grand prix sessions is that we’ve two more sessions in line where we’ll be financially awarding top three athletes in all the events contested for.

“This is also a great way to encourage more athletes to participate and be aware of their personal performance in terms of making the A-qualifiers list for the Pacific Games.

“We’re grateful to Athletics Fiji for coming up with this initiative and funding this session which I know will be a good platform for these athletes to prove themselves.”
