Fiji Meteorological Service Forecasts Months Of Wet Weather For Central Division

Residents in the Central Division should expect wet weather for the next three months.

However, the Fiji Meteorological Service (FMS) has warned of an “elevated risk” of flooding in the division.

FMS confirmed wet weather alerts for climate monitoring stations at Koronivia, Nausori Airport and Suva’s Laucala Bay area.

“The ground is already quite saturated with water.

For the past three to 12 months there has been a trough of heavy rain and it has been predicted to continue in the coming days,” it said.

Members of the public are advised to remain updated on the latest weather information and take alerts and warnings seriously.

“All communities that are prone to flooding and landslide are urged to be extra cautious and take precautions during this ongoing wet weather,” the FMS said.
