Team Augustine were crowned champions of the Marist Brothers High School Interhouse competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.

The boys-in-green scored 2413 points to beat Lambert who had 2368 while Claudius came third with 2269 and Alphonsus were fourth with 1962.

MBHS assistant principal Varasika Monua was overwhelmed with the performance of their athletes and is confident that they could win back the overall boys title at this year’s Coca-Cola Games.

“We’re always there to do our best and that is basically to improve our rankings from last year,” Monua said.

“Definitely like any other school we’ll want to prepare well and work hard and win this year’s Coca-Cola Games title in the boy’s division.

“In the interhouse we have two kinds of competition which is in two categories- the championship and division. So in the championship category we’ve potential athletes that will represent the school in the zone and Coca-Cola Games.

“While for the division category we’ve other students that just want to participate without any intention of making it to the final squad.”

Monua said prior to the interhouse meet they had their track and field eliminations.

“However, we’re fortunate to have the interhouse meet organised early so to give ample time for our potential athletes to prepare for the Suva Zone 2 which is in three weeks’ time.

“We would like to thank our stakeholders, parents and mostly the Marist Old Boys for their never ending support towards our athletes and the entire school.”
