Nakasi High School: Red House Tops Interhouse

Red House were crowned champions of the Nakasi High School’s interhouse athletics competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, yesterday.
Red House won 22 gold medals, 18 silvers and 12 bronze followed by Green House with 20 gold, 18 silvers, 23 bronze medals. Third spot was claimed by Blue House with 14 gold, 23 silvers, 15 bronze while Yellow finished fourth with 13 gold, 8 silvers, 12 bronze medals.
Physical Education, Music, Art and Craft (PEMAC) head Ashmeeta Lingam said they’re trying to increase their number of athletics to participate at the Coca-Cola Games.
“At least one of the athletes can win a medal for the school this year,” Lingam said.
“We have over 150 students participating in the inter-house out of 350 students in the school.
“Our aim this year is to increase the number of athletes at the Games and for us to win a medal.
“We had three athletes from the school that took part at the Coca-Cola Games last year. Looking at the performances this year I’m confident that more students are going to qualify.
“We have a few good athletes in the sub junior and junior grades. They all look promising to win us a medal.
“I’m encouraging them to keep up their daily preparations for the upcoming zone competition where they will try to qualify for the Coca-Cola Games in April.
“I’m grateful to the school management, students and parents for their support in making it possible for the school to host the interhouse at the ANZ Stadium,” she added.
