More Assistance For Fiji 7s Coach Gareth Baber

Two overseas coaches were assisting Fiji Airways Fijian 7s head coach Gareth Baber during training at Albert Park, Suva yesterday.
The extended squad resumed their training for the HSBC USA Sevens in Las Vegas on March 1-3 followed by the Canada 7s in Vancouver.
The team management said they are not going to release any information on the coaches until the Fiji Rugby Union notifies them.
Speaking to SUNsports, Baber said he’s pleased to have two coaches assisting him as their experience would uplift the standard and performance of the team.
“Having them on board is great as what we want to put pressure and scrutiny on the players,” he said.
“It’s always important to have other people around me and challenge my views on how we play and do things.
“Having such people you trust on the field will definitely help in achieving what we want to produce and ethics as well.”
The Welshman confirmed there are no injuries in the team.
“We had a few injuries in Sydney but fortunately after coming back to Fiji we have assessed those injuries and it’s all cleared now. All those players are back in camp.”
He also added that player’s conduct off the field is a great concern and there have been disciplinary measures taken on resolving those issues.
“Players conduct off the field does affect me as a coach,” Baber said
“As in society they have this ambassadorial role. This is very vital because any kid look up to them as role models.
“However, people do make mistakes as we are all humans. But we help develop the players not only in rugby but as human being by becoming a respected member of society. We’ve been addressing that.
“Obviously we have our methods of disciplining within the group but when they are away from me they need to do a job for themselves and be kept occupied as well.”
