The Lautoka Rugby Union’s campaign to win back their spot in the Skipper Cup Premiership received a major boost on Monday.

The Lautoka Rugby officials received 10 rugby balls and 12 water bottles from Panapasa Namoko of Deepak Joinery Construction.

“This donation I hope will definitely boost the morale of players and officials of the Lautoka Rugby Union,” Namoko said.

LRU senior official Asesela Cokanacagi said the help would help equip the players as they take on Ra in their Vodafone Vanua Championship opener on April 15.

“We aim to get back to the Skipper Cup and play in the Farebrother challenge. We are opening our doors to the private sector, stakeholders, religious denominations and companies for sponsorship and support.”

Cokanacagi said they are thankful to Tropik Pine and Icon Sports for their kind donations.

“Tropik Pine really assisted us last year and this year they will focus on sponsoring the boys allowance and Icon Sports sponsored our rugby jerseys.”

In the past decades, Lautoka Rugby has produced top players like Sunia Seru, Joe Visei, Samu Yalayala, Vili Ratudradra, Eneri Ratudradra, Niko Qoro, Manu Valetini, Osea Koliloa, Ifereimi Rawaqa, Eliki Tiko, Manueli Tiko, Vili Satala, Apolosi Satala, Seru Rabeni, Tokoni Luvu and the list goes on.
