Varani House Win Lelean Memorial Interhouse

Varani House were crowned champions of the Lelean Memorial School interhouse athletics competition at the ANZ Stadium, Suva yesterday.
Varani House in their yellow uniforms scored 549 points, followed by Naucukidi with 487, Mateinaniu 472 while Bulu finished fourth with 253 points.
Speaking to SUNsports, LMS principal Laisa Soko said they are encouraging more participation and ‘promoting wellness and health’ through athletics.
“We had more than 600 students participating in the interhouse meet,” she said.
“And this year the theme for our athletics meet is wellness and health as we want to prevent the increasing number of NCDs that are common in schools.
“This year we not only focused on getting the medals but emphasizing more on participation and promoting our theme.
“Last year we managed to win two gold medals and this year we want to increase the number of medals won from the Coca-Cola Games.
“That will only be possible if we do our best in the upcoming Triple N Zone which is in three weeks time.”
Soko said she’s grateful to the school management, students and parents for their support in making it possible for the school to hold the interhouse competition at the ANZ Stadium.
