Herald for Hire
Someone has capitalised on the iTaukei traditional post of a herald (mata-ni-vanua) on social media. This is a role a village spokesperson performs during ceremonies like weddings, funerals, traditional welcomes etc.
The post reads:
“Need to attend a Reguregu, a bulubulu or need someone to present your sevusevu but don’t know how to do it? Well Hire a Herald. For $100 a function we will present your bulubulu or sevusevu in the Traditional Fijian manner. Message this account if you need this service. Please note that you will have to give us seven days notice before the event.”
Already the post has garnered a lot of talks in the virtual world, and mind you, negative ones.
What’s your take on this? Smart and entrepreneurial or just outright disrespectful?
Rush to Valentine’s booking
I wonder how many speeding tickets did our Men in Blue give to the ‘love birds’ yesterday because of a certain witty famous poem parody. Mind you Defence Logistics has quite a following of 11,000.
Roses are red
Uniforms are Blue
Don’t drink and drive
or speed to your date
Or we will stop you
Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone.
