Impostor ALERT: 2 Pose As Real Estate Agents Licensing Board Officers

The Real Estate Agents Licensing Board (REALB) has received a complaint from an agent that two people pretending to be REALB Officers forcefully entered his office in Suva last Wednesday.

The agent through an email said that one of the impostors gave his name as Shavnil while the other who was of iTaukei descent, did not disclose his name.

The impostors entered the premises of the agent and presented themselves as the REALB Compliance Officers. After entering his office they picked some envelopes and opened the filing cabinets.

They left the premises after they were apprehended by an office assistant who threatened to call the Police if they didn’t leave.

REALB chairperson, Abdul Hassan has confirmed that there was no inspection scheduled on that day by REALB officers and there is no such officer in REALB by the above name.

All real estate agents are advised to demand for an ID from any person coming for inspection from REALB.

“I would like to urge registered agents to report such cases to the Fiji Police Force and REALB office,” Mr Hassan said

“The possibility of other impostors operating in other areas cannot be ruled out” Mr Hassan said.

“For the information of the general public and agents our Compliance and Monitoring team consists of Vinal Singh and his assistant, Azal Hussein who are conducting the inspections around the country. They always carry their ID cards with them. If anyone has any doubts then they can call our office on 330-0355 and our officers are always there to assist the members of the public.”

REALB will hold their first Talanoa Session of the year in Suva next Thursday.
