The daughter of doctors from Mongolia has been badged as head girl at Labasa College yesterday.

Namundari Tugsjargal, 16, joined the school in 2015 and was inducted as junior head girl in 2017 and senior prefect in 2018.

“My expectation to be chosen as head girl has been fulfilled, I know that I have leadership qualities to carry out the role with great responsibility”, she said.

“It is a great opportunity and I am grateful for it,” the young pure science student said

“I am motivated by the words of encouragement from the chief guest that we have to be role mod¬els, kind, modest, be helpful and perform well academically.

“I would like to thank my parents, teachers and colleagues for the opportunity to be able to lead the students of Labasa College.”

Tugsjargal’s parents are both doctors at Labasa Hospital since 2011 and she also aspires to study medicine and become a surgeon.

My older sister is pursuing her studies at the Fiji School of Medicine and my younger brother is at Bethel Primary School.

Meanwhile, Arishmeel Sagar Narayan, a pure science student was inducted as head boy.

The 18-year-old is originally from Tavua.

His parents are both principals at prominent secondary schools in Labasa.

“I would like to set an example and lead my fellow prefects with integrity and uphold the prestige of this institution “, he said.

“I would like to pursue my studies in Bachelor of Science. but no career intended yet.

“I would like to thank my parents, teachers and friends for this great opportunity. “

Mr Dharmendra Dayal, the Senior Education officer Bua/Macuata was the chief guest at the school’s prefects’ induction ceremony.
