Police: Man Dies After Driver Loses Control Of Vehicle

A 60-year-old farmer of Sarava, Ba is believed to be the latest road fatality victim following an accident on the Queen’s Road along Korovuto in Nadi yesterday morning.

The victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old heading towards Nadi from Suva.

It is alleged the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road and collided with a street light post.

Also traveling in the vehicle were three adults, a 9-year-old child and a 2 month-old baby.

All were rushed to the Nadi Hospital where the victim was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two of the adults and the 9-year-old child were treated and sent home, while a man in his 50s remains admitted in stable condition.

The 2month old baby is also admitted under observation as he sustained minor injuries.

The road death toll currently stands at 10 compared to 7 for the same period last year.
