A 24-year-old Canadian national charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs has been remanded by the Magistrates Court in Nasinu yesterday.

Joshua Aziz Rahman appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza.

It is alleged that on February 14, 2019, in Caubati, Nasinu, Rahman was allegedly found in possession of 39.5 kilograms of illicit drugs, namely cocaine.

The raid was conducted at the accused person’s home in Caubati last week where 39 bars of white powder was allegedly discovered and later tested positive to be cocaine worth more than $31 million.

Police prosecutor Constable Priti Prasad had served first phase disclosures and objected to the bail on the grounds that it was an indictable offence and a large amount of illicit drugs were found.
